WEDMORE PLAYING FIELDS SECURE FUNDING

The Wedmore Playing Fields Management Committee appointed benjamin+beauchamp Architects in 2011 to work with them to develop the playing field site in Wedmore and to date the site has been transformed with the addition of two new football pitches, 5 new floodlit tennis courts, new play area and large car park extension, new 2-bay cricket nets and artificial wicket, new equipment shed and the creation of a Multi-use game area. This morning we have received a formal grant award offer from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund towards the cost of the proposed new sports pavilion which represents the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

Including professional fees and all associated costs the budget for the building was established as £548,337, the grant offer received is for £421,425 which was way above our initial expectations which at the most optimistic was £300,000!

Although there is still much work to be done the project is now set to commence in August 2018.
