Repair and careful conservation work continues on site at The Walronds where a £2.4 million repair and conservation contract has been taking place since Autumn 2012. The contractors are Splitlath from Hereford.
The roof repairs have been completed and the house is now being restored with a West Country slate laid in diminishing courses with collar and tie valleys.
Extensive conservation has been undertaken to the decorative plaster ceiling and overmantles and a recent discovery includes stencil work dating from 1820.
Works are expected to finish early 2014.
On completion The Walronds will continue to provide for community uses on the ground floor with residential accommodation on the two upper floors.
