Hardham Priory

Wednesday, 9th January 2013

Hardham Priory Hardham Prioryb2 are delighted to report the completion of the works to the standing ruins of the former Chapter House and other structures at Hardham Priory in West Sussex.

In 2008 we helped to secure a grant from English Heritage for works to these structures listed on the EH ‘at risk’ register.

The works have comprised the stabilisaton of the masonry to prevent their collapse and the conservation of the stonework. Much twelfth century fabric remains and the project has therefore focused on the consolidation of these very vulnerable surfaces. Decaying clunch and purbeck marble surfaces have been micropinned, ager traps filled, the stonework sheltercoated and local trials have been undertaken using Calosil’s nanolime consolidant.
