Durslade Farm - Bruton
The conversion and repair of a C18 Model Farm into an Art Gallery. b2 architects worked as part of an international design team to convert and extend existing buildings to provide five exhibition spaces grouped around an intimate sculpture courtyard formed between old and new buildings. Other alterations on the site include a new restaurant within the former cow shed, offices within the stables and an education centre from the original cart sheds, whilst the farmhouse has been converted into guest accommodation. The whole is carefully positioned around the existing farm yard which has been sensitively modified and re-landscaped for its new purpose but maintains its distinct agricultural character. The new galleries form part of a visitor attraction which was opened in 2014 and has proved very popular significantly exceeding anticipated visitor numbers.
