2016 RICS CONSERVATION AWARDS – HIGHLY COMMENDED - YEOVIL St John the Baptist
Thursday, 31st March 2016
Following completion of the major programme of masonry conservation and repairs to this mediaeval tower of St John the Baptist, we are delighted to learn the project has been recognised in the Building Conservation Category in the 2016 RICS Conservation Awards and awarded Highly Commended status.
The works were recently completed on site following a period of decline and cordoning off to protect the public from falling masonry. The fragile stonework was consolidated with conservative stone repair techniques and lime methods in an unusually beautiful approach maintaining the variegated colours and textures of the stonework and the legibility of the construction of the building.
